Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Pale in color with aromas of raspberry and cranberry woven in with notes of redwood spice. The palate is perfectly balanced with flavors of cherry and broad textured tannins complementing the bright acidity and leading to a long, fresh finish.
Vineyard Notes
The vineyard these grapes come from is located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma county and is farmed by the Ledbetter Family (Vino Farms). Two different clones of Pinot Noir (Pommard and 777) were selected for this wine. Both selections trace their lineage to Burgundy region of France. The Pommard clone comes from Côte de Beaune, a southern region in the Côte-d’Or. This clone is known for it’s dark fruit notes. The 777 has it’s lineage in the Dijon portion of Côte-d’Or, about 30 or so miles to the north of Pommard. 777 is known for having good strong tannins due to a thick skins and high seed counts. Complex and velvety rich.
Winemaker Notes
Grapes were hand-picked in the morning and gently sorted and transferred back into half ton macrobins where there were then allowed to cold soak for several days. Eventually the native yeast took over and fermentation began. We gave regular timed gentle punch downs 3 times a day throughout fermentation. Once fermentation was complete the wine was pressed and transferred to barrels where it aged on light lees in French Oak.
