Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This old vine Zinfandel is bold in color and captures aromas of eucalyptus and blueberry jam. These aromas are replicated in the flavor and intertwined with an elegant, structured and smooth mouthfeel. The finish is bold, tannic and dry.
Vineyard Notes
Planted in 1964, this vineyard has both head-trained and California T- Trellis trained vines. The vines are rather tall and need very little in the way of thinning due to their age. The ground is sandy-loam with light clay. Drip irrigation was installed a few years ago, though this is used sparingly to keep grape berry size small.

Winemaker Notes
These grapes were hand-picked in the morning and then gently hand sorted and de-stemmed. They were then transferred to a temperature controlled stainless steel tank for a cold soak. The must was then inoculated and fermentation was done in tank with regular timed pump overs. The wine was then pressed and transferred to oak barrels where it received 9 months of aging. It was aged in 23% new French oak and the remaining barrels were neutral oak.
