The Corset - Red Wine Blend
August 31st - September 18th
A complex red wine blend with fruity aromas of black current and cranberry jam. Red fruit dominates the palate with cedar notes and structure from the oak aging. This is a round and medium bodied beauty that displays balanced acidity and a clean bright finish.
Three different vineyards are responsible for the grapes in this wine blend. First, the Syrah comes from the Elk Vineyard in the Borden Ranch area of the Lodi Appellation. The soil is a rusty reddish brown hue to it, it’s more depleted than the soil that’s closer to the Mokelumne river. Second, the Grenache comes from Aaron Shinn and is from the Mokelumne River Sub AVA of the Lodi Appellation. Finally, we have our estate grown Zinfandel and Malbec, which is to the northwest of our tasting room and production facility in the Mokelumne River Sub AVA of the Lodi Appellation. All vineyards were sustainably farmed and certified green under Lodi Rules.
Grapes were hand-picked in the morning and gently sorted and transferred to a temperature controlled stainless steel tank for cold soak. Must was inoculated with yeast and fermentation was kept healthy with regular timed pump overs. Aged in oak barrels, approximately 29% new predominantly French oak barrels were used. Blend is: Syrah 43% | Grenache 30% | Zinfandel 24% | Malbec 3%
