Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, cherry and strawberry are balanced with the flowery notes of rose and vanilla. On the palette, this wine is delicate and light in body, but intense in the flavor. The finish is long thanks to the refined French oak used during aging and the acidity.
Vineyard Notes
The vineyard these grapes come from is located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma county and is farmed by the Ledbetter Family (Vino Farms). Two different clones of Pinot Noir (Pommard and 777) were selected for this wine. Both selections trace their lineage to Burgundy region of France. The Pommard clone comes from Côte de Beaune, a southern region in the Côte-d’Or. This clone is known for it’s dark fruit notes. The 777 has it’s lineage in the Dijon portion of Côte-d’Or, about 30 or so miles to the north of Pommard. 777 is known for having good strong tannins due to a thick skins and high seed counts. Complex and velvety rich.
Winemaker Notes
Grapes were hand-picked in the morning and gently sorted and transferred back into half ton macro-bins where there were then allowed to cold soak for several days. Lots were split into two programs, one for native/wild fermentation, the other for inoculated yeast. We gave regular timed gentle punch downs 3 times a day throughout fermentation. Once fermentation was complete the wine was pressed and transferred to barrels where it aged on light lees in French Oak (37% new).
